No never needed it. The truck just with the traction control system handles sand quite well. First time I took the truck out was on almost bald all season tires. Let the air down to 20lbs and didn't get stuck. I really should have got stuck as bad as the tires were. With the guard dogs I can air down and leave it in high unless I go to the south end were the sand gets deeper then I have to use low range.
Just remember offroading is supposed to be at a slow leisure pace. Thats how you can always tell the rookies from the guys with experience. The ones moving to fast are afraid if they go too slow they will get stuck!
