Yeah, I know...I'm a Ford man too, and Toyota.
The whole LR is well put together, like someone thought enough to design it to be worked on easily.
That's hard to come by

I wrote a super in depth one. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone. Just search timing chain oil pump write up and you should be able to find it.

Its literally American, though; not just alike. The engine is buick designed originally. That's what he was referencing I believe.

Hey buddy, I had a tick a couple years back and it ended up being my purge valve. put your hand on it and you'd notice. Maybe not your deal. Just throwing it out there.
Its a cheap easy fix.

Small block pushrod v8, close enough.

I had the dreaded loud tick after the engine warmed up. Very quiet when cold or when RPM's increased up around 1,800-2,000. After reading everything I could find and fearing a slipped liner I double dosed the fuel with a high PEA content complete fuel system cleaner (Gumout)...there are a couple with high PEA percent (google it). Also, I drained the oil and flushed with 5 quarts of high quality transmission fluid..15 minute idle. Drained the ATF, did a complete OC with new Mobil-1 10w-40 and Mobil-1 filter.

I drove Disco 300 mile trip and haven't heard the tick/knock sound since.

Hope yours is that simple to fix

^^^ That is why many of us use an oil made for diesel engines with detergents and high ZDDP levels, it does that for you while you drive.
