I have a Discovery 2 from 2003. The gurl is turning over but either not enough fuel in a full tank or filter not working.
My truck had 3/4 in the tank and gauge is working when I was driving on the freeway, engine stopped and I had to pull over.
Trucks engine started turning over and not start. Now I am lost........ Any help is grateful

Sure sounds like a CPS. It's the time of year the heat gets the best of them.

 

+1 for changing the Crank Position Sensor.
If you don't know the age of it, replace it!

 

Loss of fuel pressure usually results in a stumbling or bucking and not a sharp cut out. I vote for Crank Sensor as well. According to the manual you should have a fault code based on the situation under which it occurred.

"The signal produced by the crankshaft position sensor is critical to engine running. There is no backup strategy for this sensor and failure of the signal will result in the engine stalling and/or failing to start. If the sensor fails when the engine is running, then the engine will stall, a fault code will be stored and details captured, of the battery voltage, coolant temperature and air temperature at the time of the failure. If the signal fails when the engine is cranking, then the engine will not start and no fault will be stored, as the ECM will not detect that an attempt had been made to start the engine. In both cases the tachometer will also cease to function immediately and the MIL lamp will not extinguish."

 

I recently had a similar issue, although I ended replacing wires, plugs and coils as well due to other factors, most likely is the CSP sensor in your case. DO NOT REPLACE WITH A GENERIC BRAND, USE BOSCH BRAND.

 

verify rpms with a scan tool while trying to start the engine. If no rpms, then the CPS is bad, if rpms show then you have other issues.
