I need some advice.
Here's the deal, if anyone has been reading my past post you'll note that I've had so many problems with my Disco, if it still wasn't under warranty I would have paid for the thing twice already.
On that note. My radio just quit last week. Won't turn on, CD won't eject, nav doesn't work, nothing it's just dead. For no reason. Worked one day, the next day nothing. Anyway, I checked all the fuses (related to the radio) and they are all good. I even replaced them just to make sure.
I'm at a crossroads here. I'm planning on buying an extended warranty this week, but I wonder if my money would be better spent as a down payment on a replacement car. Rolling the dice on a different vehicle so to speak.
My service advisor, who is quite possibly the nicest human being on the earth, suggested that if I don't buy the extended warranty I shouldn't replace the vehicle with the same make/model. To me, this means that Disco's ('03) are just prone to these kinds of problems and if I like the truck (which I do, I LOVE IT) I should just suck it up and deal with the fact that I'm going to need to have it worked on repeatedly. At this point, about every 6 weeks It's in for something. It's different every time, and the service is top-notch, I'd just rather be driving it then taking it in to be fixed all the time. I feel like I need a 3rd vehicle just so I can drive something to work while my Disco is getting fixed. Anyway, I think I've made my point.
I'm looking for advice. Suck it up and buy the warranty, or dump it and look at something else?

When I bought my 99 D2, it was under factory warrnaty, prior to it going out of warranty, I bought an extended warranty, it has been worth every penny so far.
Rovers and many other vehicles are becoming more and more expensive to repair, and they do break sometimes.
03's have had a few problems that some of the other years models didn't have, and even though they are a great vehicle, an extended warranty would be a wise investment.
I don't mean to sound like I am putting your D2 down, just giving you my 2 cents worth.

Thanks DiscoMike. I do value your opinion, it sounds like you have reliable, hands on advice/experiance. I'm deffently leaning tward getting the warranty, I just paid the Disco off and I really love not having a car payment.

OK... good question. Didn't you say in your post that you love the vehicle? Also, how much do you think you would get on trade? I love my D1, even though I had to sink some cash into it from time to time, but for being 10 years old, with 130,000 on the clock (I bought it with 90K), it has been quite reliable. Of course, I would love to find a DII with a 4.6 and a locking diff and make the DI a trail rig, but I am holding off.

Yep. 1,3,TP. Boom bada bing! It works now. Interestingly enough, I have been unable to get many of my local radio stations ( I miss NPR) since I got the car. After this little 1,3,TP thing, all the stations come in clear as a bell! Does anyone know what this key combination actually does? Tune PLLs? Region identifier?
