Default Ultra gauge seems to get hung up on 194.0

So I noticed a anomaly lately in my ultra gauge temp readings. When idling it seems to get almost locked on 194.0. Never higher and not showing any deviation like 194.2 etc. once driving it seems to react normally with operating temps in the 180’s. I’m dubious that my engine only idles perfectly at 194. Anyone else seen this? I’m thinking the temp sensor itself is sending the 194 reading and not the ultra gauge.

The Ultra Gauge only reports information supplied by the various onboard computers. Never seeing the temperature above 194° seems like a very high-quality problem to me.

My temps rarely got above 194° before I replaced the fan clutch at the same time I replaced the water pump after it failed in the fall of 2019. My temps at idle have been higher with the new fan clutch. Go figure!

Wow go figure! Can’t imagine why other than need a long term bleeding? I had to do mine every morning for like 2 weeks before I can say I was happy with the temps.

This newest anomaly with it idling perfectly at 194.0 only showed up after I had the battery disconnected for a week while changing out the CATs and a few other things not engine related. Not sure if there is a connection but that’s when I noticed it.

I do have a new temp probe kicking around. I may put it in and see if there is a difference.

My new to me truck sits at 200-201 no matter what I do. Prolonged idling, highway, parking lot, doesn't matter. I don't think it's an impossible scenario, just unlikely. Kind of unsettling actually, it warms up normally so I'm assuming all is ok but I wish it moved around a bit more. It's a new rad from BritPart and a recently serviced cooling system however I have no idea which thermo is in there. I've only put about 200 miles on it so far so I have no history but I'm interested in what you find out.

I have had 2 ultragauges go **** up and stopped reporting temps or mph correctly. I threw them both out and replaced. Later I found out that you can do a reset on them so might be worth trying that.

@Micmac make sure you have an IR temp gun and you can shoot some different areas in the engine bay to see if your temps are accurate. @Extinct taught me that one.

Going to try the reset and have the IR temp gun ready. Waiting on an idler pulley from AB before I can test it again.

My rover usually sits right at 194 probably 70% of the time. Winter time it'll swing down to 183ish and summer as high as 210 with the AC running. I do have the inline stat mod though.
