Undercoating / Rust Prevention

Undercoating / Rust Prevention
Guys,
Has anyone tried coating the frame / drivetrain? I'd like to at least paint my underbody to make it look a little bit better.
I've never done such a thing before, so I have no idea what's involved. I assume its a very labor intensive process to do.
I supposed I could start with the easier stuff (removing an axle at a time and sanding / painting them).
I also assume I can't just go under there and have at it with a rattle can lol
Any advice / feedback from those with experience in the matter would be appreciated.
Thanks

I too have a fresh coat of oil on my undercarraige, but plan on using POR15 on the rails to get them cleaned up. It's just time consuming and needs to done carefully so there isn't a huge mess. I'm also looking at options to lift the body off of the frame 12-18 inches in order to get access to the top of it. Of course then i would want to replace all the body mounts too... It never ends.

I've used a rattle can in the past, in fact I'm planning on doing it again next weekend. Rustoleum matte black. I'm sure it's not as good as taking everything apart piecemeal and coating it but I really don't have the patience or the pocketbook for that. So me and my rattlecan will get real intimate with the underbody of Bertha in a week's time The last time I was under there I noticed a chunk of metal missing off of the underbody (rust) - I need to find someone to weld a plate on in that place.
good luck!
