Uno & Dos Amigos
Great. My 2nd DII (2001), purchased Jan '16. About 2 weeks ago started getting amber "downhill descent" light. Goes away after 2-3 times start-up of vehicle.
Just went to grab lunch, and when slowing to turn into parking lot, both TC & ABS lights come on (amber). WhatTheHelloKitty?? Noooooo!!
Installing new front & rear brake pads (Akebono!) tomorrow, squeal started about 3 weeks ago. Blonde question (yes, I am), nothing to do with this, correct? I am looking for someone to not pull my covers and tell me it's only happening because my pads are worn down....and we've had SO MUCH RAIN in San Diego (we are officially our of our drought "they" say).
Still have my totaled DII, swapping out the wheels/tires tomorrow (totaled has 16" stock wheels with Cooper ATV's, about 5K miles on them), current DII has the pretty 18" stock wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler AT's, that have seen their better days.
Also, taking off the Y-Pipe assembly in the hopes it is in fine working condition, because current DII is not passing smog, small issue with right rear cat. Right rear cat was replaced about a year ago, did not solve whatever issue it is having. First, SeaFoam treatment, if that doesn't work, I'll try replacing y-pipe assembly. Keep your fingers crossed for me please, registration is due next month and I am not in a position to pour $, $$ or $$$ into Old Blue at the moment.
Does it sound like I may need to do the ABS option B fix?
Any ideas on why replacing a "bad" cat would not be a fix? I know nothing and can't figure out why cat replacement did not work.
If additional information is needed, or tests I can do to help someone here help me, let me know, handsome's please??

About the bad cat, are you getting codes like 420 or 430's? If you have those showing up, then your cats got compromised. Regarding the amigo, had that before upon starting and disappeared and have not seen them yet again. Going back to cats, CA have different emissions so a cheaper cat won't do the work usually. I think it has to be factory spec. Check the Y pipe online, you will see exactly same but other is $200.00 more.
