Unsure if I should replace valve cover gaskets/valley pan or not
I have the upper intake removed since I needed to get the coils and wires out, but I put the power steering pump back (removed that long stud that goes through it) and installed a new belt tensioner and coolant inlet o ring. I just don’t know if I want to pull it all off again to get the lower intake and valve covers off or if I should leave all that for another time like if there’s a head gasket problem. I guess I’m being lazy, but I’ll do it if that’s what needs to be done.

I can’t tell if what I’m seeing around the valve covers is just oil dried oil. It’s definitely not recent. The front cover looked similar and the front valley seal had to be trimmed back to allow the cover to fit since the seal was dropping from age. The valve cover gaskets are cracking where they’re exposed. I’d done the PCV mod and found the oil separator totally clogged. With the coil pack relocation kit, it won’t be too bad removing the upper intake again if I need to do the rest, but I already have the valley pan/seals and vcg’s… I could just do it next time unless I’m strongly encouraged to deal with it now.
