Default Upper ball joints

Hello.
I'm in the process of replacing the upper ball joints on my discovery 2. I am having difficulty pressing them in and have already damaged the new ones so I have ordered 2 more. I am using a G clamp style press of Amazon which I used on the bottom ball joints no problem. Has anyone got any information or advice for me please. I've done the ball joints in the freezer then heat up the ears no joy. They just seem to keep wanting to go in at an angle. All the suspension has been removed and the drop links also. I am using MEYLE ball joints. Thanks Lee

They're a huge pain, I just did a set. I like to reinstall the uppers first so the screw of the c-clamp can fit down thru the opening for the lower joint. That gives a pretty good angle on things.

Also, if you see it starting to go **** eyed, don't be afraid to give the clamp a few thumps with a hammer to bring the ball joint back to straight in the bore. Just don't let it get too far out of line before you straighten it up.

Are you using any type of lube?

Me, l like to start the ball-joint into the opening by lightly tapping it into the opening with a hammer first, outer edge, never center cup. Easier to see if it's started straight, once satisfied that it's straight, add clamp and press them in.
