I知 prepping my 04 D2 88500 miles for a 2in terra MED lift.
I was looking at the ball joints and considering I got the D2 with 88000 miles on it I知 not sure if they have ever been changed. I can see wear in them so I wanna change them for piece of mind.
I知 sure someone has done it on there own and was wondering if it was a pretty difficult job?
If anyone can give me some advice as to the process, tools, tips...I壇 really appreciate it. I知 trying to do all maintenance and resto myself so anything helps.
Some of my biggest questions are....
do i I need to remove the CV shaft
and are the joints hydraulically pressed?
Thank you,
Carlos

Mine has over 200k - the rubber boots on the ball joints are gone so I've been considering this too.. Probably about time... lol

With your types of questions, I would consider inquiring a shop痴 cost to do it for you.
If you take a stab at it, I would Make sure you have a suitable press & cups. And Take good care to ensure the ball joint goes in straight & your press is using the same side arm as it痴 pressure applied.
(Meaning don稚 use the bottom of the knuckle to apply pressure to the top joint when pressing in/out)
Just takes patience, brute strength, and a basic understanding
