yeah we think the td5 is great as well. we couldn't import them here because of diesel regulations imposed by our great government. if we had the choice i bet 80% of the people on this forum would take the TD over the petrol in an instant!

having droe and owned both both in the UK and over here in the US I would much prefer the V8. IMHO I found the TD5 a big dissapointment after the 300tdi. Even after I put the uprated chip into it it helped with the acceleration and the pulling power. Personally I love the V8 and with the gas (petrol) prices here then its not that much of an issue and there is nothing like the sound of a 4.6 V8 with a magnaflow exhaust

you my friend are the 20%

my truck is not a DD and for sheer reliability i would prefer the tdi. possibly even the 200 over the 300 to rid myself of wasteful electronics.

Thanks for the answer, my TD5 has been remaped by Alive Tuning along with the full size alloy intercooler, EGR removal, straight throught exhaust and turbo boost box it is now awsome, I agree the standard TD5 is a bit lazy compared with the V8 but I couldnt cope with the overheating problems on the V8, plus petrol prices in england are a big NO NO thanks GH.

you will find many threads on this forum of new members that can't figure out why their v8 is overheating, or that some stupid petrol engine related sensor went **** up.

There are some 300's that have no electronics, and all can be converted to a one wire setup, is my understanding.

Count me in the 80%. I'd rather have a lazy diesel that get 30mpg vs an energetic V8 that gets 12mpg. Yesterday I rolled into the gas station on fumes and it cost $85 to fill it up. It would be nice to do that once month instead of 2-3 times a month.
