Default vacuum problem????????????

This is what I did:
1) new plugs and wires
2) new ABS shuttle switch
3) new power steering pump
4) new water pump
5) oil and filter

When all said and done, started right up, no misses or coughs. When I went to put in gear I noticed brake pedal was HARD!! And, the idle was high, about 1600 rpm. Went back and checked all vac lines, found I had a problem at the intake at the brake booster line where it goes in to the intake manifold. I had the valve too far in. After I freed it up, I had better brake pedal, still not right, and the idle was down to 1000 rpm. Ok, now here is where it gets interesting. You drive down the road and come up to stop, idle is still at 1000 rpm and you can feel the pull as you push on brake. But if you quick stomp the accelerator and let off, idle goes down to about 600 rpm. Any help here would be greatly appreciated, I am tearing out what hair I still have!!

Regarding high idle, Your IACV (idle air control valve) could be stuck due to dirt, grime. Pull it out, and gently rock it back and forth, the thing in the middle should spin pretty freely. If it doesn't, clean it good with carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner.

As for the hard pedal, I don't know about that.. haven't dealt with it before.
