Default Vacuum problems, major oil leak on engine, broken hoses. Disco not running. Any help

What could be causing this leak?

Near cruise control. Is the yellow thing I believe is the abs supposed to be detached? There is also a broken pipe I don't know what it is

What is this? It comes off. There is also a lot of oil around it

Broken hose here

and, when was it last running?..how long before you started checking things out? You might want to asses the basics before trying to get it going again....

1. Oil leak is likely from the rocker cover gasket.
2. ABS plug has been disconnected because someone has replaced a wheel sensor and run the wire directly to the SLABS unit instead of to the plug, eliminating a potential failure point.
3. As noted, heat shield for the starter motor.
4. Definitely cruise control hoses. I don't even see the CC vacuum pump anywhere.

You probably have a ton of codes. Get yourself a good Rover-specific code reader before you go much further. It will give you a lot of essential information about the systems that have error conditions.

What those guys said. I bet the leak on that side of the valve cover is due to the PCV. Great thread here on how to change it out for a sub $10 part.

With the cruise components missing and what looks to be a full on clipped WSS wire, I suspect you have a long road to recovery for this one based on neglect…

Thanks for the response! I did the pcv mod, replaced the intake valve cover gaskets, and replaced some hoses. Now when ever I try to turn her over, I get nothing. The dash lights come on (no hazards) with the M/S blinking like it's in limp mode. I thought it may be the alarm going off so I removed the terminal cables, replaced them after a few minutes, pressed the alarm button (passenger side) used my key to unlock then tried again. Same results. I don't know what I did wrong or what is going on. Charged the battery and still had the same results. She's a 99 disco with the Bosch engine 130k miles. I've replaced the xyz switch a year ago through a reputable shop, along with a head gasket job. My first concern (aside from it not starting) was the oil leak around the 7th spark plug, under the oil separator. I'm stumped and no mechanic. I just need her to run again so I can take her to a shop to let the professionals take care of it. Any guidance on possible issues would be appreciated.

With M&S flashing that tells me if your battery is fully charged you either have terminals which aren't tight or they're possibly corroded under the insulation causing low AMP's. 12v is one thing, but for a vehicle to properly turn over the battery has to get the proper AMP to things like the starter. If it's not M&S will flash because the starter is sucking up all the power & ECU's aren't getting the power they need.
