Default Vacuum pump?

I'm looking for information on vacuum pump and lines for an 02 discovery 2 non SAI. My brakes are tough and cruise control does not hold... Looked in Rave but not seeing anything. Pls help.

i do not believe a d2 uses a vacuum pump like RR, i believe you get your vacuum from the manifold.
iirc it is the line with the red collar on it going into the passenger side of the upper intake.

the rubber hose to the cruise control are always roughten and cracked from engine heat

The cruise control unit has its own little vacuum pump, mounted on the sidewall of the engine bay (on my '99 at least). It's not connected to the braking system (other than the cancel valve) or to the manifold.
I'd suspect leaks in the cruise control lines, as drowssap suggests.

Thanks, learned something else new today. On D2 also per manual.
