Synthetic is the right oil, irrelevant of viscosity. It flows better when cold thus reducing the start-up period when the engine is running without oil pressure. In addition, at higher temperatures it is stable and does not turn to sludge. In western Europe, it is very difficult to buy dinosaur based oils, just not available in stores and why is that; It does not hold up.

What brand of oil filter are you using? Many, like the Fram filter will allow your oil to drain from the filter and oil pump which will make for dry starts.
As for the post telling you to not worry about it, I would not take his advise, be concerned and find/fix it before additional damage will occur.
