valve cover gasket

Default valve cover gasket

just a quick question.could someone tell me the size of the 12 point socket for the valve cover bolts?i would like to pick one up tonight.

8mm. The inside bolts are a bit ofa tight fit, so get a 1/4' socket if you can, but a 3/8' socket will do.

Factory torque specs were only 6 ft/pounds, so tighten them to around 12 so they won't vibrate loose.

My valve cover gaskets are leaking how hard is it to change has anybody done this before. thank you for your inputs.

Don't change them, tighten the bolts on the v/c's even if you can only do the 2 outside bolts, then power scrub your engine so it is nice and clean. You should find tighten them snug, not over tightened and the leaking should stop.
To replace them require you yo remove the intake manifold.

I put a dap a blue locktite on my inside bolts since they're so hard to get to.

I just tightened mine, only the two outside ones, leaking stopped. Just snugged with a 3/8" socket and a 6" extenstion.
