Default Valve cover gaskets and what?

Alright so I'm finally getting around to changing my leaky valve cover gaskets, I got the ones off of Atlantic British, is there a better brand or are these fine?

Is there anything else that I should be replacing while I have everything apart? Spark plugs? Gaskets?

Also am I able to refinish the intake manifold and valve covers with high temp paint or is it better to just clean them up.

Thanks guys

Since you'll have the upper intake off, be sure to check to lower intake bolts for tightness. They can become loose.

Fel-pro and Mahle make molded gaskets that will retain shape and the little ringlets in the boltholes.

The floppy crappie one’s really torqued me off.

I’d slap on a FV308 PCV and ditch the OEM plastic nipple on the intake. Since you’ll have the valve covers off you can remove the baffle as well.

Yea if you have the upper intake manifold off, now's the time to do any spark plug wire or coil pack replacements if they're needed.

Watch the AB video with Tech Support guy Doug doing an '02 D2. He goes through all the steps and shows the parts needed according to his valve cover replacement method on a Bosch engine without SAI.

Where is this located and what does it do?

Okay I got checking the lower intake bolts, CollieRover I'll check those out if the ones I have give me too much trouble, and how does one go about inspecting coil packs and plug wires for replacement? I mean they look good and I run pretty smooth.

What about spark plugs? Are these a replace as they fail or should I change those every year or so? I have had the truck for a year and a half and don't know the last time they've been swapped.

I have done that FV308 mod on a 2002, 2003, and 2004 and I never pulled the valve covers. Just a piece of leather and a pair of pliers and wiggle them out.

On the upper intake it’s the line that has a black 1/4 thread plastic nipple. It runs to the right valve cover. The OEM plastic nipple can break, and the OEM baffle in the valve cover can clog. Installing the FV308 eliminates two issues at once.
