Valve Cover tightening
I've read numerous times that the VCs need to be tightened at each oil change. Is there an easy way to do this (if so, please explain!) or do you have to take the Upper intake off? Also, why not just use some blue locktite and be done with it?
you need a 8mm 12 point 1/4 inch drive socket extension and swivel.
Blue Loctite or any color Loctite will keep the bolt from loosening, but will do nothing for the rubber gasket expanding and contracting between the Alum. head and Alum valve cover.
Now if you were to put a fine coat of RTV on both sides of the gasket that would keep them from leaking.

The best way to do it is when you have a repair to make, like replacing the valve cover gaskets. The way I do it is I put RTV on both sides of the gasket(outer lip so none of it can get inside the valves). RTV in the bolt holes of the gasket. Then blue lock tight. Alternate when tightening. They need to be tight but not too tight because they do break.
If you are just tightening for routine purposes then all you need to do is to tighten the two outer bolts of each VC. You won't be able to get the other ones because the intake covers it obviously. But you will need a 5/16ths socket and probably one or two extensions.
Mine don't leak.

Gasketa??? I have RTV black but heard that it makes your VCG leak because it doesn't spread evenly.
Yes, I did. Got that from another guy who used it on the oil pan which wouldn't stop leaking afterwards. Assume the VCG is the same principle. It that's idiotic, I'm sure I've done/said/asked worse.
