Default Vehicle Speed Sensor?

Yesterday I was cruising on the highway and the engine stumbled like it was out of gas. I let off of the accelerator and when I resumed the miss was gone. This happened once in the morning and once in the afternoon. It has not occurred since and I drove around the town today (stop and go traffice) with no issues. I am thinking VSS...anyone concur?

60k service was completed about 10k miles ago.

How well is your cruise control working? A weak signal from the VSS will cause it to fall out, and is an early indication, at times, of a failing vss...

No problems with the speedo and the cruise control has not worked since I bought her in December 08. I replaced all of the vacuum hoses for the cc, but have not put much time into finding a fix for it. I drove about 65 miles on the freeway today with not problems...
Checked for codes today and there were none.
