Default vent system fan stops, then starts again???

Guy, as my subject says, this has happened only a few times and intermitantly. Yesterday I was intown, driving around with the ventilation system on economy and the fan at full blast. All of the sudden, the fan stops for5 to 10seconds, and then starts again as if nothing had happened. This had hapened before while I was using A/C on a long trip and it had done 2 or 3 times.

Now, if this means I need to fix something, now would be the time before winter gets here and I'm stuck without a working fan which would mean no heat and no way to defrost the windows !!!!

What are your thoughts ????
