Default A Very Interesting Story

I have been looking for a new coolant reservoir to replace my orange-stained/filthy looking OEM one, and I found a guy on craigslist selling a bunch of parts for a 1999 DII, including the overflow tank. He advertised them as having only 4 miles on it. So I make a deal with the guy ($20 for the tank) and drive over to pick it up.

His Dad is the only person at the house. I start talking with the old man, and he claims the parts all came off the 4th ever DII. As his story goes, Land Rover contracted with him in late 1998/early 1999 to cut a Discovery in half so they could use the image for the catalogues, owner's manual and repair manuals, along with bringing the half-truck to car shows and the like.

Well, I don't know if his story is true, but he has exactly half a Discovery II in his garage, and the parts are literally brand new. They are from the passenger side, so if anyone is looking for parts, he has both door skins, interior panels, glove box, most of the big stuff that wouldn't be damaged from cutting a truck in half.

He said the owners manual has the VIN in it, to prove its the 4th ever, and that he'll email me when he finds it. If anyone wants any parts, PM me and I'll send you his email address.

The vin is also on the outside of the frame rail, by the right rear wheel.

Ok. VIN is also printed on the sticker on the Bosch ECU under the glovebox side of the dash.

Yes! VIN swapping, that always works well and is totally not illegal!
