Default very low complression

my 96 disco I ran very hot then shut down....i was going up a bridge and i couldnt stop...anyway when i checked comp later on i found 4cyl to have 40psi and two to have 90psi anyway one of the pistons the crown was smoothed over the top but there is no scarring on the cyl walls. most of the valves showed signs of leaking. could i just re lap the vavles make sure the cam is timed and button her up? i have dont this on other alum blocks before with great success or is the rover v-8 way different than jap engines?

You might want to check this site out.
http://www.auto-rx.com/index.html
Go to FAQ!
The proof of value is good too.
Can't hurt.

that sight seems a little fishy especially this part
"
Dear Sir:
I have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 liter HO 6 cylinder with 174,000+ miles. It had developed a bad lifter noise and leaked about 2 tablespoons of synthetic oil each night out of the rear main seal. It was leaking enough while running to cover a large area of the underbody. I had tried several detergent additives and a motor flush with no results.

I heard about your product on the Internet and as a last resort before pulling the engine for major repairs I decided to try it. I changed the oil to dino oil from synthetic, put on a new filter and added your product and drove the car for 700 miles. The leak was less and the lifter noise stopped about 500 miles after I put the Auto-Rx in. I did the second treatment the same way and the results were excellent.

The leak stopped completely and has not returned in 1,200 miles, nor has the lifter noise reappeared. I am amazed at the results and will be using it in all of my vehicles in the future. Thank you for a product that delivers on the marketing claims.

Also thank you for supporting our servicemen and women by offering them a discount on the product. ~ Sincerely ~ Neal Yawn ~ Florida"

somthing about fixing leaky seals doesnt appeal to me....b/c that means either the seals are getting swolen or the leaking space is getting filled. now i wish i knew that company which made the chemical that disolves carbon...ricers use it alot in engine swaps. carbon x maybe?? i saw it in a rice tunning mag.

The product reconditions the seals causing it to go back to its original for. It uses the oil as a carrier. If you see how the product pours you will know its is not filing anything in. You should read the FAQ and Proof of value like I did and make your own decision. If you it doesn't fill you needs then move on. I am in no way affiliate with this compay. I have good results and t I thought it would be good to share this product with other rover enthusiasts.
There are lots of testimonials on that site with people having similar problems with compression that you do. This product will recondition your valves any and clean your engine, improper oiling may be causing your engine to run hotter than normal. You can even go to the Forum and ask the inventor himself if you have reservations. Think of it like a $24 experiment. It it doesn't work then you get to rip into the engine. What could it hurt?

Most seals die or harden due to heat, and once they loose elasticity there is no magic cure for that.
