Default Very Stiff Suspension

Ever since I added the 1 inch spacers to my terrafirma 2 inch coils, my suspension has become very stiff. Everytime I go over even the tiniest of bumps on the road, its like someone is hitting my front and rear axles with a sledgehammer. I feel every bump in the road and it reverberates throughout the vehicle. Here is my set up:
  1. Terrafirma 2 in coils all around
  2. 1 inch spacers all around
  3. Terrafirma All Terrain +2" - Rear TF147
  4. Terrafirma All Terrain - Front TF118
Perhaps my shocks are too short?

What is the condition of your steering stabilizer? A worn out one would contribute to this. Of course not the only cause.

Did the spacers raise the truck or compress the springs? I would think in somes cases when the springs are progressive the added spacer might absorb the initial spring rate for smaller bumps vs actually raising the truck and keeping things the same. Or split the difference.

It was replaced in 2019 but I haven’t inspected recently so I will check it out. Also going to check my tire pressure.

Thats a good question and it never occurred to me. I assumed increased the height because I was able to upgrade from a 32” tire to a 33”.

Yeah, sounds like you did not have enough stroke left in the shocks, so you compressed the spring. Short term you could put spacers under the bottom shock bolts just to test the theory (don't drive like that and hit any big bumps that cause it to go to full compression).

yes, I agree with Extinct. The spacers have maxed out the shocks, which is in turn, compressing the shocks some. Basically, you are out of movement.

I was afraid of that. My shocks were sized for 2+. Apparently that does not mean 3”.

So what’s the current perspective on a decent 3 in shock? I don’t need anything heavy duty.

I can’t seem to find details which indicate which shocks have the appropriate length.

Do you have welding capability? I've had really good luck shortening front shock towers, and adding tabs to the bottom rear shock mounts.

Very strange that the 2" shocks aren't capable of 1 more inch. Are you sure that you were sent the correct shocks?

What you are experiencing is exactly what I have experienced on 3" lift with stock shocks.

I am not convinced you are out of travel, watching these trucks flex makes me think there is way more travel left.

You mentioned a change in tires, I would suspect them. I have had some E-rated tires that made my truck ride like an empty dump truck, and other E-rated tires that rode like a cloud.
