She's overheating now so we've come to the determination that it is the head gasket. Radiator is working properly and she keeps overheating at stop lights. Did the Blue Devil.... I know I know should not have done it... it was a quick fix she's overheating again. So here is my delema.

2003 SE Disco 2 126K miles
Should I sell it the way she is and let the buyer know what they are looking at? How much of a shot am I going to take?

Should I bite the bullet and fix it myself, have a full shop at my disposal with lifts and all the tools, but I've never done heads on a car?

I'm selling this truck, I want to get the best bang for my buck, I'm just afraid that I'm gonna run into a cracked head, slipped sleave or a cracked block.

What should I do?

 

Fix it man.
You'll only be out a pair of head gaskets..

Fixed mine in an unused parking lot.
Imagine how well you will do with a LUX life in a shop..

Soak all the exhaust studs first and see if you can loosen them with out breaking them.

And, you need to get the SAI pipes out.

And, then the intake manifold off - which involves getting the SAI wishbone unattached.

Then clean out the front of the engine.
A/C off, Alternator off
ps pump off
brackets off the heads
pull off the manifold bolts from the heads.

After that, valve covers off.

Then, take the head bolts off and the heads off and you are in the lead.

it will cost you $300 to fix it yourself, you are going to take a much bigger hit than that selling it with leaking headgaskets

 

Yea that is the wayt I was looking at it too. That sucks.

 

save yourself some time, get set of useds head for $50 and have them planed.
That way there is no down time waiting for machine work, pull one set off and throw the other on. you could be done in one long day.

 

lay air conditioner aside if you can

 

a/c, alt, ps & exhaust manifold can just be pulled out of the way with bundgy cords no need to disconnect any of them
