the clutch on my radiator fan went (96 4 liter D1) and so i'm trying to figure out if i can use a viscous clutch from any discovery or if it has to be from a D1.

I have a bad one that I'll sell you.
I am 80% sure that you must use one from a Discovery Series I, not the Discovery Series II.
I found one at a junk yard for $50.

 

Autozone has one for $90
