I was checking the ATF level in the tranny when I noticed some water droplets coming from the flange just behind the driver's side cat.

It wasn't 20 seconds before I was under the car after turning the ignition, yet the water was piping hot. It has also left a sooty residue on the bottom of the flange. It was a cold start and the AC was off, so I think that I can rule out AC condensation.

I've noticed some black patches on the garage floor but thought it was due to AC condensation dripping down after the truck was turned off. I guess now it's due to the leaky flange.

Anyway, what can I make of this? Is it as simple as tightening the bolts or will something more involved be required?

Side note, if there is a slight exhaust leak at that joint what kind, if any, noise would I expect?

The only thing thaty will leak back there is the a/c drain off and water from an exhaust pipe if it has a leak.
Might want to get under there with a flash light and look closer.
