Water Problem
Well I need your help again. On my 2000 Disco 2 I think I have a moisture issuse. It has rained here the last two days and this is when the problem started. I have had this Rover for about a week and never had it do this.Tuesday we had some rain and I had left the hood cracked open like on the safety latch. When I took a short trip in town Tuesday and all of a sudden the Three Amigo lights came on. So the Rover sat all night when I left yesterday to ride around NO lights and everything was good. It started to rain and in a matter of minutes the THREE lights came on. I also noticed that the rear wiper would start to work by itself, with the switch off.
Now I am asking as anyone out there had this issuse? I was thinking what could cause it,maybe the BCM,Maybe the Underhood Fuse box, maybe the under dash fuse box. I am assuming that it has to get wet to short out,but it has not blown a fuse.

That's odd. Everything is supposed to be pretty water tight, since they are built to run darn near under water straight from the factory.
If you have the front wipers on and you put the car in reverse, the rear wipers are supposed to turn on. If that was the case, then nothing is wrong, that's just how it works, if you weren't in reverse, or didn't have the front wipers on, then it could be something with the computer.
Sounds like something that needs to be electrically traced.

If it only happens in the rain, I'm guessing it must be something electrical. It could be something with the MAF sucking in something it shouldn't be. A MAF sensor can cause all kinds of codes to pop up that don't seem like they would be related to the MAF. Maybe the filter cover is not on properly or is cracked and letting in the damp air or even water into the MAF. I'm just pulling at straws at this point.
But the rear wiper is a definite. When you get a chance, go to the truck, put your front wipers on and put it in reverse. I think it's a pretty good design.

Well you are right about the rear wiper. As for the three amigos, today has been a beautiful day sun shining and NO Amigos. I was just thinking of putting some Dielectric grease in the connectors just to ease my mind. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the under hood fuse block getting wet from underneath causing this problem. That is about the only thing I can think of that would be exposed to moisture, mainly by the tire slinging mist up on the wheelwell.
well I can tell you this. When it happens,I just start the truck the ABS lamp will stay on ad in about 3 seconds the HD and TC lamp will be on. Now if everything is good when you start the truck you here the ABS pump cycle no lights. It does not set the three lights everytime. This is what is killing me. I can't stand any of these yellow lamps lite up on the dash
I wonder if there is a cut or frayed wire to one of the ABS sensors. Each wheel has a sensor running to it, and those wires can get snagged on things and be damaged. You can try looking under the car to see if a sensor wire looks damaged. A damaged sensor could also be the issue, but you have to take the wheels and the discs off in order to see them, and even then only partially. The sensor comes as a part of the wheel assembly and isn't supposed to be replaced without the entire assembly.
