Default Water Pump

Just looking for some advice are there any brands to avoid or better brands ?

I am about to swap out my Fan clutch and fan, assuming all "appears" fine I will leave the water pump alone for now.

But Murphy does tend to show up when least expected so I would like to prepared if leaks happen.

Cheap has worked fine for me. I just called up Lucky 8 and ordered one; didn't ask the brand or anything, just ordered what was cheap. There's no big differences between the brands. They've all got a cast aluminum body, a likely Chinese bearing, and usually a stamped steel impeller. Sometimes a brass impeller, but that's an expensive and needless upgrade.

In my experience and I am few others will chime in here, you get what you pay for every single time. I’ve had a couple WP and the cheap ones start spewing from the weep hole much sooner than the more expensive ones.

There is that but, I have seen everything from around 100.00 Canadian to well over 300.00 And I don't buy there is that much difference, in quality. However one cheap one I saw had a very rough water channel so your point is taken.

I went with the airtex with the brass impeller. Pretty sure it had a lifetime warranty

Hey Richard,

I installed the Airtex one with the brass impeller 3 years ago. It has been holding up well.

P/S. Hope you see you at our Founders Day event on April 14th.

" Just looking for some advice are there any brands to avoid or better brands ?"

I run Airtex water pumps for one reason..... IMO, that pump as proven itself to work and last the longest.

Just AVOID at all costs a GMB water pump!!!!! Total garbage! If someone gives you one toss it in the trash.
REMEMBER> The cheapest (anything) is NEVER the least expensive in the long run.

Well Airtex are around 100 CDN so that seems reasonable to me.
