Welded spider gears?
Has anybody done it on theirs? To what effect? I know the factory spider gears are pretty weak, I don't know if/how well it would work on a D2. Did you do front or rear? Did you end up snapping an axle at any point because of it? How was your on road handling changed?
Thanks guys!

Thats pretty much what I was figuring. I don't think rear should cause too much trouble though.
I mostly do light wheeling and driving on the road. I don't really have the cash for new diffs, but when I do in the future I'll be doing an LSD in the front, locker in the rear, and gears. Right now I'm just looking for a cheap improvement over what I've got.
If you do a lot of on-road driving a welded spider will cause quicker wear of your rear tires.
I don't know which Rover diff has 3 spider gears. I'm not sure how that would even work.

Any idea how much it would increase wear? I mean, 15-20% is one thing, but 50% would be too much.
Most references to welded diffs and tire wear seem to be on drifting forums, but here's one a 4WD forum pros and cons of running welded diff on a dd
My impression is that the majority of 4WD people who weld them do it on rigs that are mostly, if not 100%, off-road.
