Default Went and looked at a 2004 SE7

She's got 85K miles, immaculate all around. Has anyone noticed on their discos the rear door sags? If so, what do you do to fix it? It seemed like the rear door was sagging on this car, just a bit. Other than that, a little oil leaking from under and a clean carfax report, looked like a good buy. What's a fair price for such a vehicle? He was asking 10.5K. He also offered to let me take it to a mechanic to check it out. Is that worth the trouble? I have been a lurker here for a while and read a lot.
Thanks in advance
Jason

rear door hinges can be replaced and the oil leak is from the valve covers

as for the mechanic.... do it... take it in and have your local big name car dealer do a 120 inspection... also have them test the oil pressure and then autotrader any local similar 2004's in your area.... then make your offer 700$ less than what you really wanna pay and work up

depends on where you are....in some areas (CO), an 04 for $10k is a steal.

in others, (TN) $10k is about $2k over-priced.

definitely get an inspection.

That's what I paid for mine about a month ago - an '04 SE w/ 91K miles.
Same issues. Rear door not a big deal for me as long as it closes and opens properly - I lubed the hinges (including the slide bar) and latch/lock. The oil - just tightened the valve cover (thanks to this forum) and all is good on mine.

Good luck! I love my 04 DII and after reading some stories feel very confident in my purchase.

-Anthony

EDIT: For comparison - I'm in the North Jersey/New York City area.

Thanks for the replies. I am probably going to take the plunge and get it. I called a place about inspecting it and they wanted 240 dollars!
Might forgo that or shop around. Is 240 fair? I get my Audi serviced by the dealer and they ask 120 for an inspection.
My Brother in Law has a 1999 SE and his rear door came clean off while he was driving!!!! Is replacing the door hinges common and will it fix the sagging?

I paid $75 to have a shop in Colorado that works on nothing but Rovers inspect mine before I sold it. Find a shop that actually knows Rovers, they are kind of particular and have issues that others never even think of. The joys of British engineering.
