Default Wet Passenger Floorboards

Yet another wet floorboard question. I think I know whats goin on but just wanted to get a nod of confirmation. I have an '01 without a sunroof and after a lot of rain noticed wet carpets at the passenger floorboard. Since it's not a drain, and it doesn't smell like coolant, it pretty much has to be my cracked windshield cowl right? Or is there anything else I need to check?

Robert

I have same issue, but fixed my sunroof drains, and replaced the windshield cowl, and sealed up the fresh air intake at firewall. BUT i still, when parked, have wet carpet on passenger side. So other areas for leak: A pillar , windshield, firewall drain...??? I am going to run a hose over everything in spring...

Hi. Unable to transfer the picture on post #7 to here, so am directing you there; just in case the problem is somewhere else in plain sight.

Check the gutter at the corner of the windshield - I squeezed some clear silicone in the gap and it dried up my passenger footwell.

Where I found water ingress........Air intake for AC/heat under busted plastic cowl below windshield, loosen screws and run some sealant in the gap then retighten to seal that. Also the lower A pillar caulked area where they meet the firewall cowl area! On mine you could see a small cracks in the caulking. I started exploring with a scribe and found it had failed and there was water under it.....on both sides!! I dug out failed caulk from level with windshield lower edge down to the firewall pan area then the the big blob of caulk they cover the firewall/inner fender seam on the top. It had a void and gap between it and the metal. Sealed and now bone dry even after these crazy rains we've been having. ( Earlier I did pull the sun roofs and resealed the frames, resealed the water collection cups that have the drain tubes on them, sealed the upper corners of roof gutters at the A pillars and the back near the cargo door.)

Also check drain tubes at sunroof drain pan. Have repaired 2. You'll need epoxy ..

Gap at bottom of A pillar

Seems to be leaking from the inside out as it is dry above that line.
Well I ran some water on top of it today and narrowed some things down but still can’t pinpoint the leak.

I pulled out the passenger kick panel, no water is running down the inside of the A pillar or on that side panel. When I put the key in and the AC blower started going I noticed water dripping right down from that area. I found a gap at the bottom of the exterior A pillar, but it looks so large I’m not sure if that’s the source.

Have you checked the A/C condensation drains? If they're plugged up with mud they'll back flow into the passenger compartment.
