Buy some JB Weld and fill it in, that is your front cover, expensive to replace.

It looks to me like the hole that your dowel pin on your belt tensioner sits in.
Your tensioner bolts to the front cover and then the pin keeps it from rotating while under load, rather than two bolts to hold it in place kinda thing.
Like I said, JB Weld it and call it good.
There shouldnt be anything behind it that could leak...if you look close at the new one on AB you can see where the belt tensioner goes and that hole that has been modified on yours.
Probally got smacked with a hammer or something. Aluminum is strong but brittle.

yeah thats what it is... i just wasnt sure if i was missing more than just a little bit... i thought maybe there was something more important there that i should know about... but thats cool... i was gonna change my starter today but i dont even feel like attempting that today... i looked at it and was immediately frustrated from the appearance of it..

You are going to replace the starter? [sm=badidea.gif]
No just messin' with ya, I have not done one yet but everybody I have talked to says it is a really bad job.
Allen head bolts, 18ft extention, lots of blood, just really hard, but dont let me discourage you.
It might not be that bad.

from the looks of it... it will be that bad... there is a heat shield around the starter that is riveted to a bracket that attaches to the starboard motor mount... access to the lower bolt looks easy enough, but the one on the top of the starter is concealed under this heat shield so access from the top is not possible and from the bottom it looks like its gonna suck pretty bad... so i have the new starter in the back with my toolbox and i am gonna put it off till this weekend i think when i can convince my brother to give me a hand...
With the weight reduction, you'll get an increased MPG. I would have recommended smoothing those edges out but, where they are located you won't have to worry about wind drag.
