Sunroofs - I wish they were a more integrated design vs looking like aftermarket add-ons. Mine both work fine and don't leak (yet) but they just seem crappy. I would have them deleted if an option. My kids like the second row roof.

Soundproofing - No problems here. The carpet and padding in these things is like 2" thick. The door panels are very well made too. I think LR realized they needed to quiet the D2 down to get attention with the suburban soccer set. Mine is perfectly quiet on the highway and I have a weak resonator.

MPG - Yeah could be better but most vehicles in this category get about the same or only slightly better. No magic bullet here. I had a 012 Four Runner that barely did better and my old 86 Trooper from way back in tiny 4cy days barely better. 96 F150 4.9, same. Really only talking mid-teens vs upper teens in highway MPG. I figure if you can't slap a few extra $$ down for fuel you probably shouldn't be playing with overland, 4x4, big tire, off-road truck stuff. Also keeping the speed down can make a big difference.

Plastics & Leather. No issues. Appears to wear equal or better than most for its age. Sit in a 15 year old Toyota (or Lexus) and see what that looks like. Number one reason I didn't keep pursuing 80/100 series Land Cruisers is the interiors are terrible in looks and quality. Not sure if different LR leather colors wear the same or not. I have suspected maybe. Mine has Tundra and it looks great.

Power - I know more is always better but I have grown to like the power with the 4.6 and mine is tired at 178k. I originally thought I would do a LS but am thinking more a rebuilt 4.6. Its no hotrod but at 300ft/lbs down low moves the truck fine imo. I don't see why taking it over 2800 rpms would be needed for anything. Granted my speedy days are behind me, the BMW 2002's are gone and this truck makes me appreciate slowing down.

Design - Speaks for itself. just flat out beautiful trucks inside and out. Timeless really.

Rust - Par for the course for this era. Find a good one and take care of it. I have been using woolwax and its working great. Very regional.

Overall built quality - I think it's better than it gets credit for. Definitely has its issues but all the interesting stuff does and nothing is insurmountable of your good with tools and like wrenching time to time.

Maybe I’m sadistic but I laugh every time I hear someone cussing me out when they try to climb into my back seat with a +2” lift.

Me and the neighbours were about to go out last year for some reason they are in their 60s. Lady tried getting in the back and said the he’ll with this and we took their car lol

I carry a folding step-stool in one of the luggage cubbies so that people can get in and out -- and mine's not even really lifted!

Yeah mine has a 2” lift and I’m always the designated driver. I said it would be fun to take the rover. My wife is only 5’ 2” and manages but said our friends wouldn’t be able to get into it especially after a couple drinks. Think I need to stash a step stool too.
