Ahhh. So it's a discovery 2.

I had two. I loved them. They are a bit of maintenance, but it's usually easy and parts aren't as expensive as everyone says they are, if you know where to look.

I found the best prices on ebay.
Now by maint do you mean after it breaks or before it breaks?
My dodge truck I did regular maint such as oil, breaks, plugs wires etc at certain mileage. But I see a lot of discovery owners saying maint they did was oil pumps, head gaskets, major parts breaking down at a rather quick time intervals.

I never fixed anything before it broke. Everything else is normal stuff. Replace all of the fluids, spark plugs, etc.

They do go through head gaskets, but I don't consider that maintenance. I've not had to do it to either of mine. They don't like to be over heated. Inspecting things like thermostat, radiator, fan clutch, etc can probably go a long way to making them last longer. But who knows of the previous owner has already over heated it for you.

I bought it from a rich white guy who lived on beach front property, 3 houses down from the lakers coach. He barely drove it. reg maint is no problem for me, infact it gives me a break from two crazy boys. I just cant believe how many bad reviews there are about this veichle

The bad reviews are well deserved. People are used to honda and Toyota reliability these days.

Most of it isn't engineering problems, but build or quality problems. Too many pints at the pub I'm guessing.

I had a 91 crx that had over 250k miles on it. weak as hell but ran like a tank. my dodge Dakota I had from 45k miles to 117 miles before I sold it, I only had to replace the water pump. reg maint don't to both.

thanks jafir to help quell the panic rush that happened after reading over 100 bad reviews, and 3 good ones. haha
