As I remember it is a NPT thread. I always use teflon tape on NPT.

Don't worry about how far the PCV valve threads into the upper intake. Just screw it in until it's snug, then give it just a little "nudge".

Does your truck have SAI? That's less common on the earlier DIIs, but I see something connected to the small vacuum port under where you installed the PCV valve.

yes I believe it does! It’s the pump against the firewall on passenger side right?

It's unfortunate your truck has SAI. It just gets in the way and adds complication. Have you run the VIN? I wonder if your truck was sold originally in California.

I'm no expert, but in my experience SAI is uncommon on '99-'02 DIIs, and ubiquitous on '03-'04s.

Lol thank you! It was owned by the original owner until '22. Any single thing wrong she had fixed, I wouldn't be shocked if it was replaced at one point

It was sold new in Aurora, CO but the port of entry was Oxnard, CA, unsure if that would affect it. How can I tell from a VIN decoder?

I've worked on a NY 2003 without SAI. They're uncommon, but not hugely rare.
A VIN decoder will only tell you what the original specs were, not which in-country market it was destined for.
