i bort a comercial 98 disco special vehcile and im trying ti find out what is different,im told the gear ratios are slightly different and posabaly the engine.any info please

 

I have never heard of a special disco.
As for gears and engines, the 98's all came with the same engines and gears.

 

All Disco's are special.Especially mine.

 

on the side of my discovery there is a sticker saying special vechile and under the bonnet there is a second vin plate stating special vechile and a id number,from what i have been told these were for the goverment / mod,i know there all special but my last one one had the standard vin not the second id number

 

My disco rides the short bus and wears a hockey helmet. It's "special".

 

I know that you can buy those stickers, but if your VIN says that too, it might be something, but i've never heard of it.

 

He is in the U.K. guys, they have different Disco's than we do. We have the NAS (North American Specification).
He has a diesel, we wish we had diesels.
Being that yours is commercial I would think that the gear ratio's are different, the electrics are more robust and it probally has fewer creature comforts.
Do you have a 3-door or 5-door? Manual or automatic transmission?
There are going to be somethings that are different on yours from ours and we may not beable to help on everything.

well just looked it up on landrovers web site and the special vechiles were for mainly the goverment,some were special orders/custom orders.
with regard to the second id plate this can be traced back to the customers spec that they ordered,if i phone them tommorow with the id number on the plate they can confirm what modifacations were done.
well to the people who have never heard of these it is intresting as its not a standard spec.

 

its a 3dr manual 2.5tdi,i did not know that these were just for the uk.
the inside is just the same as a standard its just there are no rear passenger windows apart from the back window and the safari windows.
one difference i have found is the miles per gallon are averaging 40mls +.
