What do you guys think, 2000 DII with dropped sleeve
I came across a 2000 Discovery II, California Truck, looks like it has never been off-road. Radiator hose blew......long story short, cylinder sleeve dropped. roughly 110,000 miles, prior to the meltdown, everything was ingood working order, dealer maintained truck. I found three possible engine replacements, a 99 with 25k, a 2001 with 35k and a 2002 with 75k, all rolled. I am quoted around $1200 for any of the motors and about $1800 to $2000 for the removal and replacement of the engine. (front u-joints need to be replaced). What do you think? I figure another $1000 in incidentals, new plugs, wired, etc. What is the truck worth? Good body and interior, new tires, non-smoker, mint green exterior. Thanks Phil

Depends on how much they wont for the trk. If you can get it cheap enough go for it.
When the engine goes in my '97 I'll just have it rebuilt, same with the trans. So I dont think it would be a bad thing to buy it and then fix it.

Personally, I would just find a truck that's running good and doesn't need the engine swapped. For not much more money than you'll end up investing you can find one driven by a soccer mom that's ready to go as it sits. Two many variables involved with the engine swap. I would only consider that if my own engine went out and even then, I'd probably just have it rebuilt by a trusted shop.
