Default What are the effect of a non-working crank sensor?

Yesterday I post on the forum that my sparkplug were getting dirty very fast. According to a chart the plug the were to rich in air/fuel. But Mike, from the forum, told me that the check engine light would turn on if it was to rich in air/fuel. So I notice that the bulb was burn and I replace it and like mike said it turn on. The problem now the that it wont start. We try starting fluid and still wont start and we believe that it’s the crank senor. We know thatthereis fuel in the injector and that thereis spark and the plug. I believe that the injector arenot injecting into the cylinders. Couldsomeone tell me what are the effect of a non working crank sensor to confirmif is that. Also could someone tell how to reset the computer ofa Land Rover. Thanks

99 Land Rover Disc.

When your crank sensor dies your engine can't fire the injectors.

D2 http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/ERR7354G.cfm
If that small metral shaft is bent it is probably the sensor.

If your injectors are not firing, it has to be the crank sensor. The tip was probably bent when being taken out at some point.

Well its a D1 and the sensor is most likely damage. Because when I took it off, the metal tip was bend in a curve. I try to straighten and it kind of help because itwill run for 2 secbut then died. But I think it was running because the starting fluid. I will let you know if it works after I change it. Thank for a your help guys.

Mine was just replaced, its a mess when it break down, I was just driving down the road and it cut off, once I pulled off the road it would not start. Now that I fixed it the truck is MUCH better, and my gas mileage is about 3MPG better as well (it was prob getting like 9-10 before now it gets 13-14). Get it fixed if you think it needs to be replaced, but it's quite expensive.

I got it to Start. The bad news is that it will not start by it self. I need to inject starting fluid for it to start. Once is running it run smooth. What could be the cause of not self starting?
