Now, are you saying this truck is a year 2000 Disco II with 165,000 miles on it? Just to be clear. If so, that price sounds high to me.

See this article from our tech section of the forum https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...scovery-21328/

also, you can use www.statewidelist.com to search all of craigslist for your state for a particular vehicle (like Rover) and get the results sorted by city, so you know what else is out there. And kbb.com is one online price guide, some swear by it, others swear at it...

I got my 03 w/90k for $4,000. So that seems high to me.

That's a steal!!! Probably peoples ridiculous fear of the oil pumps. When I bought mine I noticed it had a new oil pump (front cover) already with 130,000 miles. It was always dealer maintained so they probably replaced it due to the normal '03 - '04 tick. Ofcourse, it didn't get rid of it, as usual, so I'm thinking that the previous owner just went and traded it in. I've heard that the very last ones went at around 75,000 miles, so anything over that and it's probably NOT one of the effected engines.
I talked to the guys at D.A.P. and they said that they've seen oil pumps go in ALL models and ALL years of Rovers. They also said that they've seen them go without trouble for 300,000 miles so, it's really just a crap-shoot!

It had a bad front shaft, I think he thought the transmission was bad. Or maybe the T-Case. Either way I got a great deal

Tranny may have taken a lick from the shaft, if it came apart, might want to put the Mark I eyeball on it with a good flashlight. Sellers get excited when you zip on your disposable coveralls and wiggle under the truck... while under there make lots of groans and a few "uh-ohs" for effect...
