The defenders hold their money so much better in the UK to. Its crazy if you ask me, yes they are a little more capable offroad, but its not because of better running gear etc, its just the departure / approach angles are better and in standard form its higher of the groundbecause of its design. BUT put them on road, and theres no comparison, the Disco wins hands down !!!. this is why the DIsco is such a great vehicle as it superb both off and on road. The short wheel base defenders can get easily cross axled to when going over big gaps / holes as its to short, but it works in its favour when going over ridges as its less likely to "ground out".

Positives and negatives with both vehicles, as with everything in life

I think they are great as a "toy" but I could never swap my Disco for one if I need it for on road to.

The Defender is what Land Rover started as, its a get it done truck, tuff no BS to worry about.
They have History.
The fact that the North Amercia Defenders stopped coming in after 3 years for the D-90(94-95-97)and 1 year for the D-110 (1993) people want them.
They are put together by hand or were.

Off road the D-90 that I drove was(97) easier to get in and out of places than a longer LR, afew places the longer wheel base of the Disco's worked better.
The ride was better in the Disco I than the D-90 , less noise,
Better get up and go the D-90 is a brick it has a smaller fuel
tank so with the same 4.0L V8 you stop a lot more.
The upside is you can get a aux fuel tank, its easier to set up as a Over Lander.
If I could get a Defender it would have to be diesel as GOD (you choose which god) had intended.

The white one is mine.

Ok the Disco I' is mine the others are a friends of mine.

He sold the Disco to me after I sold my old truck that I had had for 16 years.
He was impressed with how I had taken care of it and wanted the Disco to go to a good home so he made me a offer I could not refuse.

In the years before I bought the Disco I had gone off road
with the Land Rover Club that he is a member of and drove
hisD-90.
I have also driven his D-110 the last of the last D-110 to make it to North Amercia.
The LR3 is his wifes, the Disco was his wifes and when he sold it to me she almost cried.

So I can blame him for getting me hooked on Land Rovers,,
but not NEW Land Rovers.

The US got 500 D-110's ,,Canada got the last D-110's to
come into North Amercia and they only got 25.

The Defender isvery ultilitarian, it is justa tractor that can be driven on the road at 60mph.
I want a Series, early '70's I think.

Everything is better with a diesel!! I prefer high torque over high horsepower any day. Trying to figure out how to put a Mercedes 5-cylinder diesel into my Discovery.

Short answer, very little. Watch some of the video on the Camel trophy series, and you see that the Disco really shines. Defender pricing is easily explained.

!. High demand (Cool factor is off the scale).
2. Low supply

Prices for older defenders will drop significantly if and when LR decides to reintroduce the Defender to the US, provided it retains the cool factor.

I'm still very amazed at how much the Defender has Rover fans salivating. I'm from the Jeep crowd and have owned Jeeps for 21 years, until I sold my TJ (wrangler) last July after owning 2 YJs, 1 XJ and 1 TJ while my father and brother own ZJ,XJ and TJ.

But the thing is that Cherokee and Grand Cherokee ownersare people that either aren't interested in the CJ,YJ or wrangler, or have owned wranglers and have upgraded to the luxury ' better riding' vehicle of the brand. You'll hardly ever hear these folks say that they wish they owned a wrangler. Although it is true that the rarety of the defender gives it some appeal, it doesn't appeal to me at all. Well, I do like the 110 a lot but the 90 ??? no way!

Your Discoveries are very rare vehicles and I don't see why a rarer one would be more desirable, especially if it means less room and comfort. Heck, people around here still think that my 2000 D2 is a new model. It is true that my Disco is outstandingly clean, but no one knows enough to know that not only is it 8 years old, but that this modelhas been replaced 4 years ago! the Land Rover logo alone is enough to impress the crowd. Even the Escalade and H2 owners. Little do they know that their truck is worth 6 to 8 times mine. But I sure ain't gonna be the one to tell them

defenders better capture the orignal, they dont change much. Also there more relatable to the ****** jeep, in basicly everything, styling handling and even sound. My grandfather (92 y.o.) designed theKaiser Jeeps, and the ****** 134 I4 for AMC. He currently owns a kaiser (not running) a 95 defender (47k miles, stock), and a 97 caddy deville. he always says "Thouse wranglers are just like ay other crysler thing, crap."And best of all, i as the only male grandson, inhert all the cars . Defenders are always gonna be cool.
