The rear view mirror in my '97 D1 looks as if it has sprung a leak, and the auto-dim feature is no longer working.The top half of the mirror is bright and bluish, the bottom is darker and bronze and there is a distinct line running through the middle. Is this repair straightforward, or should I know any useful tips first. I have the shop manual, but I find it rarely helpful. Which mirrors will work? Some later ones for the D1 have map lights, and some for the D2 have a compass.

You will need a new mirror http://www.roverconnection.com/ part # AWR2146 $260
If you only use the auto dim feature when needed the mirror will last longer.
Its not hard to replace you do have to pull the bin above the windshield and there is a plug thats
the door opener is in if you have on that has screws behind.
You have to use the mirror that comes with your Disco the ele hook up is diff and you can't use a
manuel mirror as the mount is different and as the mount comes with the windshield it can not be changed.
