Default What size mud terrains??

What is the biggest size mud terrain that can be run on a 98 stock land rover? I have heard that a 245 tire would scrub even with a 3 inch lift so I need help! I know some of you guys have big tires, anyone got suggestions? thanks

Stock you can run 30" no problems, maybe 31" if you want to push it. On a 3" lift you should be able to fit 33"s with room to spare. All of this with no trimming of course.

You should definitely consider a new OME suspension though, the stock LR coils will start to sag as early as 60-80k miles and a new set up is well worth the money. I'll be getting mine in a few weeks assuming finances permit.

My question is what size tires can you run after doing a heavy-duty OME suspension in a DI?

I'm running 245/75 with 2" springs and have no rub at all, although it is really close in the rear when I stuff the wheel fully up into the well.

245 is usually the best bet, with little or no work required.

As for how big a tire can you install, I have seen 12.50/35/15's stuffed in with a fair amount of work and they work really well

98RG to answer your question specifically, I'd say no bigger than 32" and you'll be good to go.

265's won't fit into a D1 with out a lift of at least 2"s plus.

That was pretty interesting. I think it also has alot to do with tire design and manufacturer, they all vary a little bit in size. I dont run full-blown mud tires, but my Cooper s-t's are fairly aggressive.

I could see where a M/T would rub in the rear with no trimming.

IMO, when I mounted up the 245/75, I did have to remove the front mud flaps off the factory running boards

why would i not put in a 3" OME instead of 2"?

if i didn't use the long travel shocks, the actual lift is more like 2.5", right?

that doesnt require an mods to brakes, etc.

so why not the 3" lift? what am i missing?
