Some of that stuff doesn't count, like the code reader, etc because it can be used on other vehicles, so your running total is actually less! Great!

You could probably argue that the oil and other maintenance parts shouldn't count. At least I say that to myself when I looking at other parts I want to buy.

 

All my LR’s look original inside/out minus the stereo, and off road equipment. All original features/options fully function, and it drives/handles like new. (Going with Camel Trophy/Expedition looks not un-common to LR’s).

I’m not one of those 3M tape kinda guys with chrome 4x4 logo’s, gills, or hood scoops.... Everything I have modified is in a good way to keep my D2’s on the road for a long long time.

If a D2 is kept 100% OEM I’m sorry to say it, but it’ll have a nice life at the LR Shop...... OEM thermostat, OEM front drive shaft = recipe for disaster......

 

I just can't believe how long the original components have lasted, and was wondering if I was normal, lucky, or neglectful.

 

My D2 and D4 are both stockers, mostly the components on the D2 are the original items. I've replaced the shocks with TF and the front springs, Watts linkage, and front and rear ARB drop links but all with stock or equivalent items. The D2 is regularly serviced with oil, filters and tires but apart from that the D2 has been very little trouble apart from recently the autobox spewed out all of the ATF and now needs stripping .......... possibly. I have a theory, it's either a blocked vent tube or the TQ has split ........ what a PITA.

I have to admit that the components on the D2 seem everlasting if looked after properly.

 

I need to add up the labor I have saved doing the work myself and award myself 25% of that to accessories!

 

I like your approach!! With my labor rate, I am actually making money and need to spend money on parts to get back to zero
