Default What is supposed to be on spare tire mount?

Mine came with the spare tire and holder in the back cargo area. I have the 2 brackets and 6 long bolts and nuts as well as the actual holder.

But the part where the tire mounts has one crazy crackhead welded snapped stud and 2 holes.

What is normally there? Welded studs?

One idea was use the m14x1.5 lug bolts from all the German cars in the shop and get 3 new discovery lug nuts?

Or if the cones match, weld nuts onto carrier and use the bmw lug bolts?

Kind of overthinking it but these tires are heavy and I don't want to murder anyone behind me

Sounds like you need a new spare tire mount. If you have larger than stock tires, then you'll want to consider the spare tire relocator.

My stock tire carrier was in bad shape too so I swapped mine to the TF499 HD tire carrier and its a nice upgrade.

Rather than trying to rig something to work, I expect you could get one from a boneyard truck for only a few dollars. Since you're in New Jersey there may be a DII in a salvage yard near you. They're on the self-service yards here only rarely these days.

Or, check with Will Tillery. He has a yard full of parts trucks and I don't expect spare tire carriers are a high-demand item.

For sure you can buy a used tire mount. Just be sure that the bolts are totally secured as the weight of the tire puts a lot of stress on the bolt area. I had my original mount tear at the bolts and was amazed at how the spare tire wobble made the whole truck shake. That's why I recommended a new mount. BTW, the first new mount that I bought arrived damaged and had to be replaced so carefully inspect whatever you purchase new or used.
