I am wondering what are your preffrence on batteries i currently have the one that came with the truck when i bought it but i am thinking of buying a optima red top.

personally i am a big fan of the sealed gel type batteries like the optima or any of the spin off brands. when my factory batt kicks the bucket i will swap to a red top

 

A lot of people swear by Optimas, there's also a lot of people that like the Odyssey batteries. I'll probably use a yellow top Optima when I get my lighting and if I ever add a subwoofer.

 

Optima yellow top in mine. Spins the diesel over in seconds !!

 

I have an Optima Blue Top. It's ok, but after reading the hit and miss reliability of them (and seeing one have an internal short at Pismo) I plan to swap to a Sears DieHard Platinum Marine PM-1. It IS the Odyssey PC2150 that EE sells for $350. It's made in the same factory with a different shell. Also, a single Optima probably doesn't have enough CCA to run a winch for very long or keep it cool. The Optima Blue Top (D34M) has 850 CCA the PM-1 has 1150.

 

I have a Duralast battery from AutoZone, 1,000 CCA cost me $70 and has a 8 year warrenty.

 

I'm on an interstate right now.

Rather have the Marine Diehard from sears, the Exact same battery as the oddysey. Heard way too many horror stories with optimas.

 

I have an Optima Red Top, when I needed to replace my battery I bought one of these, within a few months I had an internal short and had to swap for a new one. Next time I need to buy I think I will look into the Die Hard version of the Odyessy.

 

I am running dual Yellow Tops.
Do you have a winch, if so a Red Top won't cut it.

 

I have a single Yellow Top. (will add a second when I get a winch).
