What is this wire from the radio? Low volume?

you will have to test it, you can try jumping a fused wire from 7 - brown/green to pin 5 - blue/red to see if that is your problem. the next step would be to try to "pop" the speakers, you will need to turn the truck off and put a 9V battery across the + and - speaker wires to see if your problem is at the amp.

what is the history of the audio system? is it all original? has it been messed with? have you heard it stock? does the stock system work?

I know they make them but I have never seen a rover without an amp (maybe the defenders but they are rare in the states)

i think i have an amp under the drivers seat, or at least it looks like one, see the attached pic. is that what yours looks like?

the multimeter shows 10.7v coming out of the blue/white from the head unit. thats touching the black probe on the ground connection with the metra and the red probe on the blue/white wire from the head unit.

i just checked the factory head unit and works fine. nice and loud.

i had forgotten to get my CD out of there anyway.

test the three wires not attached to the metra harness and tell me what they read on the meter when the factory radio is connected and playing.
also do you have the steering wheel interface connected?

its not those three wires. i just cut them off of the connector completely...i will have to for the connection to the pca steering wheel control anyway.

factory head unit still works fine. (except now i cant use my steering wheel controls)

should the voltmeter have read 12v instead of 10.7 on the blue/white?
