What year of Discovery II shows what trends ?

What year of Discovery II shows what trends ?
Is there problems that show more often to a particular year built ?
Is there problems from early production that were corrected later ?
Later year production runs; do they show other flaws ?

2000 and 2001 have a 4.0 engine.
And they are good.
2003 - as Dusty said - oil pump thing - in VIN ranges.
2003 and 2004 have a 4.6 engine that can drop engine sleeves when the engine is over heated.
These can all drop sleeves, but the 2004 seems the worst.
And they are good.

Chassis (frame) was economised in 2003 + 2004 with thinner metal used and corrodes more easily. ABS WABCO has been consistently causing problems over 100K miles since around 1998. TD5 engine was far more reliable in later models in 2003/4. CDL was omitted in 2003 and I believe in 2004 models. Sunroofs leaks have always been problematic since the onset of the D2's and even D3's.
Apart from these they are great if you can spanner your own truck and don't look and listen too closely ................. best suited to the visually and audibly challenged.
