What's the more reliable engine 4.0 or 4.6
The 4.0 hands down.
The most reliable of the two with the most power is the Range Rover 4.6 from the P-38.
The 4.0 and the 4.6 are the same engine, but the quality control was non existent during the 4.6 years.

The 4.6 L has much more power / torque in city driving, making the DII nimble. We all know about the oil pump / front cover alignment issue on some blocks, which is not only in the 2003 MY
Both engines are better than the BMW 4.4 L DOHC / with intake cam phasers, used in the new Range Rover. These engines sludge up terribly causing oil to get sucked into the intake plenum, in addition, the timing chain rattle like a bucket of bolts.
