By the way, do you have all of the center caps on your wheels? I had a missing one on my P38 and that was the wheel that always was a little tougher to get free of the center hub. Either way, the never seize on the center hub will take care of that issue.
I have center caps on all the wheels. But they were (and one still is) stuck on the hub firmly! My truck is a Northeast driver and has a lot of salt induced corrosion.

Has anyone had any issues after they removed the caps on the lug nuts? I would like to see some pictures of them if you have them. I had a hell of a time getting some of mine off. I believe the last time I had new tires put on, the shop used an impact wrench and messed up several of the caps. I've replaced a few of them with some used lug nuts that I bought from someone here, but if I can remove the caps and not have any issues, I might do that.

They aren't as "pretty" with the caps removed, but you won't have any issues.

Totally agree with the rant.

I ended up buying a rough impact socket set at Harbor Freight and a breaker bar (both on sale, of course), and keep the 1 1/8 and 1 1/16 in my truck. I actively try to take the caps off whenever I do a tire rotation. I am glad when they get bent and fall away.

I even ordered a literal BOX of lugs on ebay for TWO Discoveries. They were the wrong size. I am still rolling on my original lug nuts (from 2000), and about half have the caps on them.

Gonna try that video procedure! Good find!

I had to fight the wheels off the hubs recently. I alternated between kicking them top and bottom and yanking on them til they finally came loose. Kind of a PITA.

While they were off, I sandpapered the center of the hubs and the center of the wheels until the wheel went back on with ease.

Thankfully, I had no problem with the lugs.

I torque the lug nuts to 110 FT LBS on my Disco 2 and make sure if having wheels removed they don't use a impact wrench. you can also crack the caps on the lugs by using a impact wrench.

The advice I got from the main rover shop up here (lots of road salt) was to use a dead blow hammer and that worked for me.

I think I got the 3 pounder...http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...lt?q=dead+blow

Give the inner rim as powerful an accurate blow as you can muster while lying under the beast and it should pop loose after a few.

Unfortunately, I always seem to learn the hard way. Anti-seize works wonders..and rants always seem to help as long as HWMBO doesn't hear me!

Ah Yanks and their imperial… 27mm — metric.
Use Metric tools for everything on your rover and you'll have a way better time.
I really recommend taking the spare off regularly too! Very hard getting those nuts off once they are seized.

I quickly found that the lug nuts were in terrible shape, the 1-1/16" socket did NOT fit on them. I used a 1-1/8" and hammered it onto a socket. After using a 24" breaker bar with no luck I added a pipe on the bar - still no good! I used a 1/2" impact wrench with 140PSI - no good! After a trip to the auto parts store, I had an impact socket in 1-1/8" (and a 1-1/16" for later) and a 3/4" to 1/2" drive impact adapter. Put the 3/4" impact driver on the wheel nut and _finally_ got them to loosen. Needed the gun for all the nuts. Most got stuck in the socket and had to be pried out. This fiasco took several hours from start to finish.

you can buy new chrome covers that will side over the stock lugs on ebay for a couple of bucks.
I bought a set for my winter wheels which are red, i didnt want to paint the stock lug nuts.
