Default Wheel problems. help!

hey my friend recently gave me his 2003 land rover discovery. it has a vibration in the steering wheel so me and my mom took it in to get the tires balanced. the mechanic proceeded to tell my mom that if i didnt buy new tires that they are unsafe and need to buy new rims and tires. lucky for them my mom believed them and ordered them after i left.

she ordered 18'' duke redbourne rims. in my opinion it would look stupid because she doesnt want me to have low profile tires for some reason. i want 20'' or bigger so that i dont look like i am 60 years old driving to school.

so my question to everyone is:

is there a 20'' rim that will fit my car and have a tire that has a wall of like 4''?

and would a range rover wheel fit on my car? cause they have the same bolt pattern

please help! thanks
jake

A Range Rover wheel will fit, you will need some spacers. Here is a set on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hub-R...Q5fAccessories

Or you could put some 16 inch wheels on there and some offroad tires instead if you don't want car tires.

ok well how reliable are the spacers? will it make a difference?

and is there a website that i can find the little fender cap things? like the little trim peice that goes on the wheel opening? cause they are fading and i think some new ones would make it look way better

thanks

Hi Jake7870.

So let me get things right here. Your mate gave you a 2003 disco, i'm assuming for free and then you find out it has a wheel balance issue and your mum buys you new 18" rims and tyres which i'm assuming you don't have to pay her back and after all this you're still not happy with it because you don't want to look like a 60 year old driving to school! Dude you need to get a life. Start appreciating what other people do for you and stop being so spoilt...there are a lot of kids out there that would give thier left arm to have what you've been given.

I have never used those spacers myself. All they do is center the wheel on the hub. When does the vibration happen? Maybe its a bad u joint or roto flex.

x2 on not buying new trims. http://www.amazon.com/Forever-Black-.../dp/B000FOIJXQ works incredibly well. My wheel arches were grey when I bought it 2 years ago, I used this, and they are still jet black.

Well yes I may came off as unappreciative but that is far from true.

Anyway the left rear wheel opening trim peice is completely gone. So where can I get some new ones? I've looked for a while and I can't find any. Please help. Thanks

Ps. The vibration happens at around 50 mph.

Jake

FAIL!

If NOT having "Dubs" on your Land Rover makes you look like you're 60, then 26 is the new 60 for me!
